Why Hawaii?
Hawaii has served as a rich crossroads of peoples and cultures, and beyond its indigenous Pacific island roots has strong European and Asian historical influences.
Our conference venue, near Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, is situated on Oahu, a tropical island abundantly rich in flora and fauna, dramatic in landscape, and surrounded by turquoise seas.
Oahu is known locally as “The Gathering Place”, and we look forward to seeing academics from across the world gather together to exchange the latest in research, network, and enjoy a conference in beautiful surroundings.
Getting to Hawaii
All major domestic carriers and many international carriers serve the islands, making Hawaii accessible from just about anywhere. There are also hundreds of inter-island flights per week. Once you arrive in Hawaii, you’ll find plenty of ground transportation options, including rental cars, shuttles, taxis and more.
The Hawaiian islands are easily accessible, with hundreds of weekly flights from mainland gateway cities and destinations around the globe. Airfares are some of the lowest cost per mile in the world. Seven major airlines serve Honolulu International Airport (HNL) from the US mainland alone. Getting from the airport to Waikiki by taxi typically takes less than half an hour and other options include trolley cars, limousine, motorcoach, minibus, and van service. There are also six major rental car companies and several smaller ones right at the airport or close by.
